[WIP] Some natural health principles for getting the most out of your food

Fats in and of themselves are not bad for you, but serve an essential function. In fact, Dr. mercola shares on his site that healthy fats, especially fats that haven't been damaged by heat or oxidation, and that still have a lot of fat soluble vitamins, are essential in making sure the brain is functioning well, because it needs a lot of fats, both for energy, and also to repair damage to cell walls using the lipids from transported digested fats. Cholesterol is actually a protein and a fat combined together; the protein helps make the fat soluble, so it can be transported around the body and used to feed the body and repair cells, etc. 80% of cholesterol is used in the brain, to repair damage there. That is part of why I eat a high fat diet - not only is a more stable, even source of energy being released in the body than eating refined carbs or sugars, but it provides the benefits above as well. The fat soluble vitamins are essential for absorbing many important minerals, which supports our bones and teeth, having the right balance of minerals in our body and blood, and often many of these are important catalysts in body metabolic chemical reactions, many of which need to happen at a certain pH- if our blood pH goes too high or low, we can have problems (usually the body will strip the minerals from bones and teeth first- the body won't LET the pH change too much, its so important).

The weston-price foundation and ramiel nagel talk about some of this are their websites. Dr. Mark Hymen has done a lot of work on exploring myths around fat being harmful for us. Others have explored that natural salt, and the natural minerals in water, are also very important for us- and simply drinking enough water when we have salts allows our kidneys to balance our blood salt solution more easefully. Some processed salts, like iodized salts, or even natural salts like himalayan salt or sea salts that have been treating with anti-caking agents (some of which contain aluminum, which is linked to alzheimer's, mental health and immune dysregulation, and in some cases increased risks of cancer). While enough iodine is still very important for us, most sea vegetables actually have a good quantity which is in a bioavailable form - so having kelp, dulse, etc cooked in stews, or kelp powder added to foods can make sure you get the right amount of iodine, which is a very important nutrient for the thyroid gland, which helps regulate some of the other glands, body self-regulations including temperature and metabolism.
