Do aliens exist? What about God? What about ghosts or spirits?
What do _I_ believe?
So, in short, I like to be 'open the possibility', but I try not to be 'too attached' to
need for things to be so (or NOT be so...).
To not get TOO obsessed, and to carry on with my normal life, as best as possible, rather than waiting to have 'all the answers' to the 'big questions' before really being able to carry on with my life. But I like to stay curious, and try to investigate a little more regularly, as time permits, on many things which I am curious about... sometimes first as stories, or thought experiments, and then sometimes looking at more serious research or other peoples' investigations into things. Sometimes a really well done piece of something seems to just fall into my lap, so I try to give it good attention, be a little bit critical, but not to proceed henceforth that, without further investigation, that I necessarily have any kind of 'final' or 'absolute' answer.
A philosopher named Berkeley shared an idea, that, essentially, the universe as we know it, is the mind of God, and we are thoughts, ideas, within this... Gaia hypothesis talks about meta-organisms, and the idea that higher levels of consciousness may 'aggregate' from component beings at different levels - Douglas Hofstadter's Anthill and the Anteater analogy story talks about this a little bit. The matrix series of movies took another angle, also very powerful- that everything we know could be illusions created by technology, and essentially we could wake from a dream within a dream to a real world which is very different from what we know.
Amit Goswami talks about the idea of Consciousness itself being the fundamental level of reality, and that mind and brain, or thought and physical reality, arise from more fundamental existence of 'everything as consciousness itself'.
Can we test this? Do we even WANT to? Philosopher Alan Watts gives a story, about us, that we are an indescribeably powerful being, and begin to cocreate grander realities, with greater and great power and awareness, until, perhaps, somewhat like in the Doctor Strange movie, that some of us come back to this more 'ordinary' seeming reality, and find that these more mundane seemings challenges, problems, little spurts of growth, and conscious, love and hate, joy and sorrow... are actually where we WANT TO BE, in the NOW. What if when we Dream, we connect to this world of infinite possibilities, and can plan our next day or little steps in our journey, our explorations... from a place of greater awareness?
Sometimes, our emotions can feel so strong... especially about things we experience in reality... could we have possibly ever wanted things to be this way? Or sometimes we seem to feel so numb, or detached... not feeling very alive, sometimes for long periods of time... could there be a reason for this, also?
In a book I enjoyed very much, called "The Edgar Cayce Handbook to Creating Your Future", by Mark Thurston and Christopher Fazel, it explores some helpful questions to help us feel connected enough to a higher perspective to kind of center ourselves in a spiritual knowing and reality, without needing to be too ungrounded in the present moment around us, I found. To be able to ask spiritual questions, test them while holding a certain amount of faith, and then seeing what really seems to come from this, without necessarily having to know exactly how or why things work, but exploring, testing, and building a groundwork in some ideas that can help us have a meaningful and helpful spiritual life that complements our social and material life also- the reality as we are living in it more directly through our senses.
Maybe sometimes the question 'why' is more important than 'if' or 'how'... a why that is personal to our own sense of meaning and being... or maybe, sometimes, that is enough, for many of us, for now...
So I've digressed a little, so:
Do I believe in aliens? If so, why haven't they landed and introduced themselves already? Someone who says he channels a being he calls Bashar gives an answer I like to this question, and some other related relevant ideas.

Is there other sentient life on the universe? I wonder if we even need to look to outer space, to find it?
In this 'In Search Of...' episode, Leonard Nimoy and their show investigates the possibility that plants can communicate with each other telepathically, as a 'for instance' of what I was mentioning above. For those who wish to question more close to home, there are those who study animal language who have decoded a great deal of what some animals are communicating when they are making noises, including how and what they are thinking, and what level of consciousness and emotions they may experience, partly in relation or comparison to our own human experiences.

Ghosts and spirits? Consciousness outside of the body, out of the physical context familiar to us? Could this exist? Could life after death exist?
So I don't have any definitive answer for people on this; I have mused and dreamed many odd dreams, some of them only half remembered, of different worlds, and beliefs, of God and Angels, of higher consciousnesses of ourselves only dipping parts of ourselves into realities in order to have a fun, but within certain limits, exchanges with 'other' higher beings... sometimes, or maybe always? depending on your level of stratification in considering all things being one whole... always parts of us, but sometimes only interacting with certain pieces, for certain reasons, at certain times, in certain narratives? Is this a useful exploration for you? Probably anything I can dream, you can dream too... but maybe you won't... if it doesn't 'call' to you... so there we are... are there some obtuse higher beings, strange irrational numbers that must stay in the far depths of the abyss, because they are too foreign to most consciousnesses to be able to come too close to them? Lonely stars or galaxies or angels, wishing for their song to be heard and loved? I've dreamed stranger dreams...
Thank you for reading.
